by Phillip Healy It is crucial when going into an interview that you feel confident about yourself and your ability to perform well. These feelings of security will only be present if you have prepared adequately for the interview. Your ability to control the interview can be achieved by a thorough knowledge or your resume and by coaching yourself to answer commonly asked questions. Being able to control the direction of the interview will assist you in highlighting your strengths to the prospective employer, rather than being pulled into a line of questioning that perhaps doesn't bring out your best. This exercise is about the belief in your own ability to control your environment, including during interviews. There is a high correlation between those people who believe they control their environment and success in job search. Your beliefs strongly influence your behaviours and it is important to monitor your beliefs during a period of career transition to ensure they are working for you rather than against you.
